Art Feeds Grown Ups: Craft Workshops for Adults

Art Feeds for Grown Ups is a workshop for adults 21+ who are ready to get crafty, snacky, and chatty. This will be an intimate evening creating with others, where all proceeds benefit Art Feeds Joplin programs. Look at the media section here, choose a craft you’d like to create at the event, and choose your craft choice in the ticket section of that page. Art Feeds will contact you to confirm your order. All supplies needed for your craft, snacks, and a glass of wine are included in the ticket price (prices vary depending on craft selection).

Art on Tap aims to celebrate current and welcome new Spiva members. Live music by acoustic rock band The Radleys, Woody’s pizza, beer, and admission to the current “Norman Rockwell: 323 Saturday Evening Post Covers” exhibit are all available with the purchase of a membership (check out membership prices and perks here).

Did you know that Local Color Art Gallery & Studio offers classes from 10am–6pm every Wednesday? If you are looking to learn a new artform, or perfect an old one…this is the opportunity for you. Two sessions are held with local artists specializing in different mediums. In either session you may decide when to come in and how long to stay. With up to 4 hours of painting time, you can both accomplish more and enjoy more personal instruction.
From 10am–2pm: Donna Roberts specializes in realism and experimental techniques for creative watercolors and acrylics. Bring any materials that you have, but if you don’t have any, Donna will provide materials for the first lesson. The fee is $25 per class. From 2–6pm: Paula Giltner will be teaching realism watercolor and painting techniques and design principles. JLT IN CONCERT

Celebrate JLT’s 75th Anniversary with a trip down memory lane highlighting numbers from some of the most popular shows performed in JLT’s musical history. Ninety-three musicals have been performed at Joplin Little Theatre – this show will feature songs from 16 of them. A cast of 60 will bring songs and dances from many of your favorites. PRO MUSICA PRESENTS: WINDSYNC

WindSync has distinguished itself among classical music ensembles as North America’s foremost emerging wind quintet. The young, energetic group (flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon and horn) plays exclusively from memory. The quintet was a winner of the 2012 Concert Artists Guild International Competition. This concert is free and open to the public (donations appreciated).
OPENING NIGHT GALA CONCERT FEATURING: VIRGINIA LUQUE & BOJIDARA
Fri, Sept. 26 | 7pm at the Thomas Jefferson Concert Hall
This opening night gala for the TJ Concert Hall will feature a rare pairing of two world-class musicians – Bojidara Kouzmanova, a world-reknown Bulgarian/Viennese violinist, and Virginia Luque, an accomplished classical and flamenco guitarist from Spain. They will share the stage with the talented TJ Upper School ensembles. A reception with the artists will be held after the show. Tickets must be purchased online.
