The Annual K-12 Art Show will return to the MSSU Spiva Art Gallery January 11. The exhibit will run through January 27. A reception will be held Saturday, January 16, 2–4pm. This is one of our favorites each year!
This non-competitive exhibit is arranged by grade level in order to show creative development by grade. It includes a variety of 2D and 3D works including paintings, clay sculptures, cardboard constructions, as well as works made from found objects. Sponsored by District 9 of the Missouri Art Education Association, the 4th Annual K-12 Art Show features artwork created by students from throughout Southwest Missouri.
As many of you know, the 5@16 Fifth Anniversary Planning Committee is offering residents and business owners a way to beautify Joplin in honor of the upcoming fifth anniversary of the Joplin tornado. Larger-than-life metal butterfly sculptures produced by Forged Waterjet can be exhibited at your business, home or other location in the Joplin area. Proceeds will help support a disaster conference in May 2016. “Spread Our Wings – Fly High and Proud” is a project of the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation. Those that purchase butterflies are responsible for commissioning an artist to decorate their butterfly.
CALLING ALL ARTISTS! Mercy Hospital Joplin is seeking an artist(s) to paint/decorate their “larger-than life” butterfly that will be displayed on the Mercy Hospital Joplin campus. The application deadline is February 5th, 2016.
