What’s going on during Third Thursday?

  • Art Walk: Approximately twenty art galleries pop-up all throughout downtown and are filled with local artwork; some for sale and some only for exhibition. A shuttle to the art galleries beyond 1st and 7th (including Spiva Center for the Arts, Local Color, Imagemakers and Phoenix Fired Art) makes it easy to get around. The shuttle can be picked up at the Gryphon Building at 1027 S Main.
  • Live Performances: One can find a myriad of performances going on between 1st and 7th. Walk around hearing different musicians, take hip-hop lessons, and watch theatrical vignettes.
  • Eat: One of the best things about Third Thursday is dinner at one of Downtown’s many restaurants. Dine in or take out and eat while you stroll.
  • Shop: Visit downtown Joplin’s shops on Third Thursday and look for promotions!

When is Third Thursday?

  • Every Third Thursday of the month, March–October from 5:30–8:30pm.

Third Thursday was founded in 2008 and is Joplin’s trademark cultural event. Come with friends and family to stroll through downtown, eat great food, listen to music, peruse local art and shop! The Downtown Joplin Alliance (DJA) is a not-for-profit organization comprised of individuals and businesses dedicated to supporting and promoting the revitalization of the Downtown community as a thriving, safe and attractive center of art, history, enterprise, commerce, culture, residence, and entertainment.
