Title: Robert Higgs Mural (1960)
Location: Interior wall of Joplin Printing Company (220 W 2nd St)
Description: This indoor mural was created by nationally renowned artist and Joplin native, Robert Higgs in 1960. Higgs was the Art Director at Joplin Printing Company for several years. He studied art in Kansas City and at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts. He also served in the south Pacific and Japan during World War II. The U.S. Army distributed a collection of 85 prints of his work. He served as the first president of the Ozark Artists Guild and was instrumental in forming what would become George A. Spiva Center for the Arts.
