Title: The Miner & Four Nymph Statues (1966)
Location: Spiva Park across from the JPL, Downtown Joplin (4th & Main Street)
Description: The Miner Memorial Statue was created by Italian artist Piccini Stefano. The cast-iron nymphs in the fountain at Spiva Park were imported from England and symbolize the four seasons. “Spring holds a nest of baby birds; Summer swings a garland of roses; a cornucopia rests at the feet of Autumn and Winter wraps herself against the cold.”
