Ozark Christian College’s Creative Arts Academy is a week-long summer program designed to empower high school students to use their talents to create Jesus culture in the world. From song writing, photography, and graphic design to animation, filmmaking, and theater, students focus on the discipline that interests them the most. Whatever their interests may be, the Creative Arts Academy aims to joyfully inspire a generation of artists through training in multiple disciplines and purposeful collaboration with peers and other artists, allowing students to leave as better artists and culture creators. The 2021 Academy begins at 1:00pm on Sunday, June 13 and ends at 6:00pm on Friday, June 18.

Jump Start Early Learners! (Age 2)

Summer fun at school is for twos, too! Miss Teresa is planning four days filled with messy art, fun movement, and lots of outdoor activities that will help your child discover the fun of learning and making new friends.

Space Camp (Ages 3-4)
June 7–10 | 9:00am–Noon
Go on a trip in a rocket ship to learn about space with Miss Carrie! St. Mary’s astronauts will learn about the planets, stars, Milky Way, and more. Students will explore the universe through art, games, poems, and songs. Get ready to blast off for a fun week!

Artapalooza (Ages 3-4)

Get ready for lots of creative fun with Miss Carrie! Your child will create amazing pieces of art using many different mediums and styles of art. Students will even replicate the work of several Masters of Art. Get ready for lots of paint and lots of fun!

Once Upon a Time (Ages 3-4)

Literature and imagination will go hand-in-hand during this class! Students will use literature, creativity, and their imaginations in new ways. There will be lots of art, games, and memories made this week!

Fun with Physics (Grades K-2)
June 7–10 | 9:00am–Noon
Learn about, search for, explore, and create the simple machines we use in daily life – the wheel, axle, lever, and inclined plane. This is a hands-on week of imagination and problem-solving your child won’t want to miss!

Let’s Go Camping! (Grades K-2)
June 7–10 | 1:00–4:00pm
Go to summer camp without leaving Mrs. Bashor’s classroom! Campers will learn about constellations, make s’mores, share campfire stories, play games, and make fun camp crafts. Let’s go on a camping adventure together!

Stitching for Fun (Grades 3-6)
June 7–10 | 9:00am–Noon
This class is a great way to introduce the fun and spatial learning benefits of sewing to your child! Students will learn basic sewing stitches and skills, learn how to read and cut out from a pattern, and design and sew a few items to take home. A great week of hands-on, creative fun!

Oregon Trail, LIVE! (Grades 3-6)
June 7–10 | 1:00–4:00pm
It’s time to pack up and head west to Oregon Country! Role play as a pioneer, design a covered wagon, play pioneer games, and even make butter to experience life as the pioneers did during the 1800s. Load up your wagon and Westward Ho!

Bienvenidos a St. Mary’s (Grades K-2)
June 14–17 | 9:00am–Noon
Students will experience many aspects of the Spanish language including cooking and cuisine, holiday celebrations, traditions, conversation, and more! The class will end with a grand fiesta on Thursday, June 17.

Lego STEAM Challenge (Grades K-2)
June 14–17 | 1:00–4:00pm
If your child loves Legos, they will love this creative week of hands-on fun! Students will design, build, problem-solve, and develop team-building skills as they use Legos and other tinker tub objects to explore and enjoy daily STEAM challenges.

Nat’l Parks Exploration (Grades 3-6)
June 14–17 | 9:00am–Noon
Another wonderful week of exploring different National Parks! Each day will include computer activities, a featured animal, science experiments, and much more. “Travel” to Yosemite and Volcanoes National Parks, and Dinosaur National Monument. Experiments and STREAM activities will include a flowing lava challenge, learning how pinecones open, making dough fossils, and more!

Awesome Art Camp (Grades 3-6)
June 14–17 | 1:00–4:00pm
Join Mrs. Turk in Awesome Art Camp and exercise your creativity with fun, extended art activities! These activities will include fiber arts, painting, sculpture, and even some outdoor art fun.

Me, Myself, and I (Grades K-2)
June 21–24 | 9:00am–Noon
The human body is an amazing machine! Students will study themselves, learning about many of the systems and parts that make humans unique creatures. Students will enjoy exploring and discovering that we are indeed “fearfully and wonderfully made!”

St. Mary’s Summer Olympics (Grades 3-6)
June 21–24 | 9:00am–Noon
Let the games begin! Learn about the Summer Olympics and participate in St. Mary’s own modified version with lots of fun activities. St. Mary’s Olympics will conclude with a medal ceremony on Thursday, June 24! Students should wear comfy clothes, sunscreen, and tennis shoes so they are ready for the fun.

Summer Fun Day Trip! (Grades 3-6)
Tuesday, June 29 | 7:45am–5:30pm | Cost: $100
Is your child a fan of the Little House on the Prairie books by Laura Ingalls Wilder? If so, sign them up for a trip to visit Laura’s home in Mansfield, MO, where her famous books were written. Participants will leave school at 7:45am in a school bus, enjoy a guided tour of the Wilder homes and museum, and have a picnic lunch. The museum holds many important artifacts from Wilder’s life, including Pa’s fiddle! Students need to bring a drink and a sack lunch for our picnic. The class will stop for dinner on their way home at Lambert’s Café, home of famous “throwed rolls”. Tuition for the day includes travel, snacks on the bus, admission fee, and dinner. This trip is limited to 20 students.

Joplin Little Theatre’s Children’s Workshops are a great way for young, aspiring actors to learn the aspects of putting on a production. From costumes and makeup to props, sets, and technical elements, students can gain valuable, hands-on experience! At the end of each class, students put their knowledge to use and perform a short play for family and friends. There are two workshops available this year:

Stranded on an Island
July 12–16 | Cost: $70 per child
Morning Session: 8:30am–12:30pm
Afternoon Session: 1:30–5:30pm
A group of tourists find themselves stranded on a desert island, a beautiful paradise with waterfalls and volcanoes. Who will they meet along the way? Will they make it back to civilization?

An Artist Finds Inspiration
July 19–23 | Cost: $70 per child
Morning Session: 8:30am–12:30pm
Afternoon Session: 1:30–5:30pm
A group of uninspired artists visit their fellow artistic friends to answer the question: How do artists find inspiration?
