Joplin Emancipation Celebration Committee (2011)

Dating back to the early 1900s, Joplin’s annual Emancipation Park Days Celebration is one of the city’s longest running, cultural events. Each year, people gather at Ewert Park on or around August 4th to celebrate the end of slavery in the United States. The Joplin Emancipation Celebration Committee exists to continue this long-standing tradition and, in doing so, serves, educates, and advocates for the Joplin community.
