Artist Statement: A hidden gem in Joplin’s public art scene, Artist Alley in downtown Joplin has been home to graffiti and street art for years. In the fall of 2018, most of the graffiti was covered with a new piece of artwork. The mural is massive, measuring 90-feet-wide and 10-feet-high, and features the name of the artistic crew who brought it to life: “Sucks Being Poor.”
