George A. Spiva Center for the Arts (1947)
George A. Spiva Center for the Arts has remained a cultural fixture in Joplin for more than 70 years. True to the vision of their founder and namesake, Spiva offers opportunities for everyone to experience, enjoy, and purchase art in all forms. Spiva’s classes, events, and exhibits go beyond the traditional oils and canvas, instilling in its community a passion for the arts that Spiva himself had. Today, the Center resides in the historic Cosgrove Building at 3rd and Wall in Downtown Joplin but looks forward to expanding its services by partnering with Connect2Culture to move to The Harry M. Cornell Arts & Entertainment Complex in the fall of 2021.
