Not All Goulashes Are the Same: Why the Czech Version is Special
September 16 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
The Czech and Slovak republics are famous for their goulash. In this cooking demonstration, Chef Tomas Slepicka will prepare a decadent Czech version that is entirely different from the American version. The taste and texture of the goulash is heavily influenced by the surrounding states (Slovak, Austria, Germany, and Poland), but it is Czech through and through, as represented by the authentic Czech flavor, cooking techniques, and herbs. The presentation will also include the preparation of traditional Czech side bread dumplings that are commonly served sliced, as well as recipes and tips anyone can use to prepare this meal at home. Following the presentation, attendees can sample either a mini portion of beef goulash or vegetable goulash, both accompanied by a slice of bread dumpling. This event is part of MSSU’s Czech Semester. Free and open to the public.
