Paint the Ozarks: Plein Air Paint-Out (Ages 18+)

From the bluffs and banks of Shoal Creek and the picturesque Grand Falls, to its historic buildings and homes, there is no shortage of beauty in Joplin. Capture our city’s beauty and flex your plein air painting muscles during Paint the Ozarks: Plein Air Paint-Out, presented by Joplin Regional Artists Coalition and Spiva Center for the Arts! The event kicks off on Friday, September 9th during a plein air painting workshop with Kansas City artist Larry DeGraff. From 9:00am on Saturday, September 10th to 4:00pm on Sunday, September 11th, painters will spread out across Joplin to capture scenes that captivate them. Cash prizes ranging from $200 to $500 will be awarded at Spiva Center for the Arts following the end of the competition. An exhibit of entries will be held at Spiva Center for the Arts for the remainder of September. Register for the workshop or competition at spivaarts.org/paint-the-ozarks.
